TOOLKIT

  • This feature provides outlining tools to organise and restructure a story’s plot. It can generate or refine an outline based on the draft, identifying chapters, scenes and key plot points. The writer can adjust this outline via a drag-and-drop interface or fill in missing beats. The tool can also suggest classic narrative structures to compare against the story. By visualising the story’s scaffold, authors gain a bird’s-eye view of their novel’s flow.

  • A dedicated tool for managing characters, settings and world-building details with an over-arching, integrated story bible. For each character, the author can maintain profiles (appearance, personality, backstory, character arc) and for the story world, catalogues for locations, cultures, histories, thematic concerns or lore – whatever the genre demands. Author assists by automatically extracting character details from the draft to populate these profiles and by checking the manuscript against them for consistency. The tool is highly interactive: updating a character profile for example, prompts the system to find and update the text references accordingly, with the author’s approval.

  • The Timeline and Scene Management tool provides a visual timeline of the narrative and an overview of scenes/chapters. It allows authors to see the chronological order of events at a glance – either in a traditional timeline format or as an ordered list of scene cards with timestamps or day counts. Authors can rearrange scenes, add or remove breaks and label plot threads (e.g. main plot vs. subplots) with colour-coding. The AI’s role here is to help populate the timeline from the draft (identifying time jumps, dates, or the sequence of events) and to flag any chronological inconsistencies. This tool essentially acts as both an organiser and a diagnostic tool for story structure.

  • This feature analyses the narrative’s emotional and dramatic arc, presenting visual feedback on pacing and tension. It uses AI to evaluate each chapter or scene for its emotional intensity, mood or conflict level then plots these on a graph from beginning to end. The result might look like a “story heartbeat” – peaks for climactic moments, valleys for calmer interludes. The module can also identify the major turning points (inciting incident, midpoint climax, climax, resolution, etc.) either automatically or with minimal input from the author. Additionally, it can compare the story’s arc to common archetypal story arcs or even to specific genres’ typical pacing patterns. The aim is to give the author insights into how engaging or well-structured the story feels from a reader’s perspective.

  • The AI Style and Grammar tool functions as an intelligent copyeditor within the writing suite. It goes beyond simple spellcheck to suggest improvements in grammar, diction and style specifically tailored for creative writing. The feature can highlight passive voice, overly long or complex sentences, repeated words or phrases, and other common prose issues. What sets it apart is its adaptability: the author can set a target style or voice (e.g. ‘concise and hard-boiled’ vs. ‘lyrical and descriptive’) and the AI will adjust suggestions accordingly. It might recommend more vivid verbs, fewer adverbs or dialogue tags that match the tone. Essentially, it blends the roles of a grammar checker and a line editor with some awareness of narrative style.

  • The Rewriting & Augmentation tool offers AI-driven suggestions to rewrite or enhance portions of text on demand. Rather than general copyedits, these are creative re-imaginings of the author’s prose while preserving meaning. A writer could select a paragraph or line and choose operations like ‘Make more concise’, ‘Add descriptive detail’, ‘Shift the tone’ (e.g. make it more humorous or more suspenseful), or ‘Show not tell’. The AI then provides a rewritten variant of the selected text following that instruction. Another aspect of this tool is expansion and condensation: for instance, turning a block of summary into an expanded scene with dialogue (if the author requests more showing), or compressing a wordy passage into a tight summary (useful for trimming word count).

  • This tool is all about boosting creativity when the author needs ideas. It provides an interface for brainstorming with AI – the writer can enter a prompt or a question like “I need ideas for a plot twist involving these characters,” or “What are some ways to escalate the conflict in chapter 5?”. The AI then generates a list of suggestions, snippets, or concepts. The assistant can also supply writing prompts, help flesh out a one-liner into various scenario ideas, or even generate alternate versions of a scene to explore different story directions. Importantly, it is context-aware: it can read the current draft or synopsis so that its suggestions are relevant to the story at hand.

  • The Consistency Checker is a tool that automatically scans the manuscript for internal inconsistencies and continuity errors. It covers a broad range of checks: character continuity (names, physical attributes, voice), plot continuity (events not contradicting each other, no forgotten subplots or inexplicable character knowledge), setting continuity (if the capital city moved from north to south in different chapters, for example). The feature uses the knowledge from the Character/World modules and its own understanding of the story’s timeline to flag anything that “doesn’t add up.” It might present these findings in a report or mark them in-text for the author to review. This goes beyond simple find-and-replace consistency (though it does that too for things like spelling of names) – the AI can catch logical contradictions that require understanding context.

  • This feature set isn’t a single module but a foundational aspect of the platform: real-time collaboration and availability across devices. The writing suite is built so that multiple users (co-authors, or author and editor) can work on the manuscript simultaneously or asynchronously with changes merging smoothly. It includes version control to track edits, suggest changes or revert to earlier drafts. Additionally, the platform works on web, desktop, and mobile with cloud synchronization. A writer can start editing on their desktop, continue on a phone app while traveling and finish on a tablet – the content and all module data (outlines, notes, etc.) stay consistent.
